History
Wheelchair football has been actively played in the Cincinnati
area since its introduction in 1991 by Northern Kentucky Wheelchair
Sports. Over the years, group members have participated in numerous
other activities including snow skiing, scuba diving, softball,
basketball, bowling, and sky diving.
Currently
The wheelchair football team, now known as the S.S. Express,
is associated with the Cincinnati Recreation Commission, and
is headquarters of the Universal Wheelchair Football Association
(UWFA), which promotes the world's most inclusive and adaptable
sport on an international level.
Where it is played
Wheelchair football is played weekly throughout the year
at locations in Ohio and Kentucky. Players with any type or level
of disability, and non-disabled individuals are invited to participate
(extra wheelchairs are provided). Membership is FREE! And a good
time is guaranteed for everyone.
