Placement Test
Upon admission to the college, students should call the
Advising Center at
(513)745-5783 to schedule their placement tests. All incoming students
are required to take a English and math placement tests. Some students may be asked to complete a test
in foreign language, chemistry or another subject, depending on their
selected major. And international students may be asked to take the Ability
to Benefit test. When a student's placement test(s) are scored, you will
be assigned an adviser, who will guide you through your degree or certificate
program.
Do I have to take
a placement test?
Yes. However, if you have completed previous college work, please check
with Enrollment Services
at (513)745-5700 to see if any portion of the placement test can be waived.
Are there particular
classes or majors that require placement test scores?
Yes. For example, the English Department requires that all students complete
the English Placement Essay. If you studied French, German, or Spanish for two or
more years within the past two years, and plan to enroll in classes in
that same language at RWC, you should take the Foreign Language Placement
Test before you register for classes. To be properly placed in a computer
course, some students will need to take the Keyboarding, Document Formatting,
or Document Production Placement Test.
What is English Plaement Assessment?
Along with a brief math portion on the college's placement test, all undergraduate
students must complete the English Placement Essay
requirement, which includes writing an essay (essays can also be completed
online at www.uc.edu/englishplacement).
English Placement Assessment evaluates a student's skills to ensure they
are beginning their courses at a level that is best for them. This is
not a test that you pass or fail, and it does not affect your admission
to the university.

How do I make up a missed examination?
Proctoring for make-up exams is also provided in the Advising Center. Times and days will vary by quarter. Arrangements
for make-up exams must be made by the student's professor and coordinated
through the Advising Center. A photo I.D. is required at all make-up examinations.
