As I continue to develop my home page, my plans will include syllabi, project sheets, lab assignments, and other pertinent handouts for your review or use.
- Business Communications
- This course covers theory and concepts for writing an effective business letter. Students ar encouraged to develop a clear, concise writing style for various types of messages: good news, bad news, persuasion, and resume/employment.
- Desktop Publishing I
- This is a hands-on approach to learning and understanding the complexity of desktop publishing. These beginning concepts include understanding the Macintosh computer's environment; designing page layouts; creating and importing graphics; creating, editing and importing text; using fonts and typefaces; and learning the fundamentals of basic design.
- Desktop Publishing II
- A continuation of Desktop Publishing I with emphasis on intermediate and advanced functions: custom text wraps; indents and tables; templates; style sheets; color; scanners; table of contents; and indexes.
- Document Formatting
- Designed to reinforce and strengthen the basic skills learned in Keyboarding. More advanced business forms, and the knowledge and skills involved in production typing are taught. Speed and accuracy on straight copy and production material are emphasized.
- Keyboarding
- A beginning course in typewriting including keyboard mastery, introduction to the business letter, reports, and simple formatting. Note: Office Administration majors must meet minimum typing speed of 35 wpm in order to take Document Formatting.
- Microcomputer Office Applications
- Designed to introduce the student to several software applications that are used in business. Lecture and hands-on applications are given in database management, word processing, business graphics, and spreadsheets.
- Microcomputer Office Spreadsheets
- Designed to introduce the students to spreadsheet applications. Emphasis is placed on creating spreadsheet reports; formatting; editing; printing; creating formulas; using special functions su;ch as if, lookup, sum, date; macro writing; graphics; and database spreadsheet applications.
- Microsoft Office
- This course introduces the Microsoft Office integrated package. Students are introduced to the basic concepts of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Integration of these three applications are also given.
- Office Presentation Graphics
- A hands-on course using a presentation graphics software such as PowerPoint. Creating, editing, formatting, and delivering a presentation are stressed.
- Word Processing I
- Designed to provide hands-on experience in a word processing laboratory setting. Emphasis is on production, quality of work, and basic problem solving on the microcomputer.
