Bearcat Online (BOL)

We'll use email frequently throughout the quarter. Every student in the class must have a Bearcat Online (BOL) account, even if you already have an email account elsewhere. Please read all of the instructions on this page before you begin working!

Activating Your Bearcat Online (BOL) Account

  1. Launch a web browser. (We use IE here, but other browsers should also work.)

  2. Go to the Bearcat Online web site: email.uc.edu  Note: Please do not precede the web address with www.

  3. If you have never activated your BOL account, or if you can't remember your login information, click the link provided.

  4. Complete the form that appears on the screen. (You’ll need to click in each of the text fields before you can begin typing.)

  5. When you have typed the correct information in all of the fields, click the Submit button.

  6. An information sheet with details about your account will appear on your screen. Make sure to print this information and keep it with you! (To print, just pull down the File menu and choose the Print command.)

Using Your BOL Account

You can read your mail through UC's web-based mail reader at email.uc.edu. You can also use a POP client, such as Eudora or Outlook, to read your mail. Finally, if you already have an email account that you prefer to use this quarter, you can forward your BOL mail to that account. Additional information about BOL is available online on the UCit Email Services page and on the UCit Documentation page.

Internet Access

As long as you have Internet access, you can access your BOL mail from home. If you do not yet have an Internet service provider, you can set up a UC Remote Access account. Information about remote access is available on the UC web site at https://www.ucit.uc.edu/online/.
