Enter the world of mythic England and Ireland, or discover the mysteries contained in ancient mathematics.  Breathe the mists of Avalon at the sacred mythic sites in Ireland where gods and goddesses, kings and queen, leprechauns and sidhe may walk.  If all this mystery isn't enough, explore the ancient magic of archeomathematics.

Topics in Math: the Math of Myth

This course will approach history and myth from a mathematical perspective.  Starting with the beginnings of mathematics, ancient numbering systems and ancient astronomy, we will begin to view ancient cultures and their myths through a mathematical prism.   More Details

The Mythology of Ireland

This course teaches the cultural context of the hero in mythology using Joseph Campbell's work in comparative myth.  Using Campbell's work as a basis of inquiry, this class will explore the functions of myth  in pre-historic cultures and in modern culture.
