Elaine M. Hill
, attorney, domestic violence prosecutor, has overcome her impoverished
childhood in Appalachia and many other challenges, including a divorce
that left her a single mother. Despite these struggles, Hill managed
to work steadily toward a law degree. After graduation, she headed
for a position in the office of Florida State Attorney General Janet
Reno. There, Hill prosecuted domestic violence cases for nine years,
ultimately creating what is believed to be the first domestic violence
court in the nation and becoming a champion for abuse survivors.
Her portfolio includes many commendations from Reno for her legal
skills, professionalism, and compassion. |
