University of Cincinnati/Technische Universität Ilmenau Exchange Program

The purpose of the program is to provide study abroad opportunities for students at the University of Cincinnati and the Technische Universität Ilmenau.

2010 German Study Abroad


Students will be immersed in German language study in the Sommerkurs at the Technische Universitaet of Ilmenau Germany. The RWC course, taught in English, will complement the German language study classes and German language information in the excursions, field trips and activities included in the program. Multiple excursions (Eisenach, Erfurt, Weimar, Buchenwald concentration camp) are included in the program, as well as daily sports and activity possibilities. In addition, there will be the opportunity for additional travel to Dresden and Berlin. Topics include the cultural history of Ilmenau and the surrounding area, selected works of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Friedrich Schiller, background and accomplishments of Martin Luther, Johann Sebastian Bach and St. Elizabeth of Thueringen. There will be readings and a blog requirement as part of the class work.  Pre-requisite: 28 GRMN 103 or equivalent.


March 1, 2010: Application deadline ($150 deposit due)
April 15, 2010: $500 nonrefundable deposit due
May 15, 2010: Second payment due in full
July 30: Program start date
August 21: Program end date
Projected cost: $2,500 (Subject to change.  Includes: travel, RWC tuition, TU fees, living expenses)
